Investment Projects Case Study Project Coordination - Supervision - Management Structure
The contract started in February with 3 hectares of land, with a target of building, staffing and opening a £1M complex by June. A local architect, with no experience of leisure parks, had prepared the plans and daily changes were needed to adapt to reality. Original plans excluded an infirmary, sufficient parking for visitors, etc.
The Park was planned to receive 1500 - 2000 people per day in the summer. 40 staff were recruited and trained in a few weeks.
The architect was not competent, the timing was too short and the market research non-existent. Future projects in the leisure field, including the enlarging of campsites and creation of holiday villages, showed that thorough planning and detailed market research can save as much as 30% on construction costs and ensure a profitable future.
